never knew what this song meant until recently. like a lot of you said up there, its about a girl whos guarded and wont let anyone see that part in her deep down, yet, as the last verse says, thats the part he needs to see the most...the part that would allow her to love him completely.
this is by far the best springsteen song, and probably in my top 10 of all songs.
